Your Challenge
Segedunum IS UNDER SIEGE! But this time not by Saxons or Scots, but by modern day villains who want to take over the amazing historical site that is Segedunum! Solve the clues to find the priceless artifact that will save Segedunum from financial ruin! A wealthy European outdoor garden store chain has put in a bid to buy up all the Segedunum heritage site to become one of its newest branches, selling cheap plastic gnomes and sun loungers! You must solve the ancient clues to find a hidden artifact that will be able to raise the money to oppose the bid and save the site! Use your wits and problem solving skills to say ‘no’ to the takeover – but you need to be quick!
This game will normally last around 90 minutes but there is no restrictions on the length of time as long as the site is open so please make sure you start in good time. You will be able to stop the clock once to take a break.
Local History
Segedunum was in use as a garrison for approximately 300 years, from around 122 AD, almost up to 400AD. Today, Segedunum is the most thoroughly excavated fort along Hadrian’s Wall, and is operated as Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths and Museum. It forms part of the Hadrian’s Wall UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the final fort at the end of the Wall – hence the name Wallsend.
