An exciting adventure game set in the beautiful grounds of St Peters Church, next to where the Priory stood many centuries ago. Are the falconers, charged with killing the Chaplain 800 years ago, guilty? You need to discover the truth.
Your Challenge
Nearly 800 years ago, in 1276, the King’s Falconers went on a rampage in and around the priory, angry at the way they were treated by the Chaplain. In the melee, the Chaplain died and the Falconers were put on trial. The King intervened, even travelling to the town, in an effort to save the Falconers, but to no avail. They were found guilty. But, records show a mysterious witness was key to the verdict, Doubt has now been thrown on the statements given by the witness at the time. Did they lie or were they telling the truth?
You are Historical Investigators, seeking the truth. Armed with information about statements that were made, you need to retread the steps and uncover the truth. Were the Falconers guilty or was there a miscarriage of justice? You must find out.
This game will normally last around 90 minutes but there is no restrictions on time. You will be able to stop the clock once to take a break.
Local History
In 1131 Henry I established an Augustinian priory at Dunstable. It was at Dunstable Priory that the annulment of Katherine of Aragon’s marriage to Henry VIII was announced in 1533. The Augustinians were evicted shortly after in the Dissolution of the Monasteries, but parts of the priory church of St. Peter have survived as the parish church.
